Biography of Joseph

This biography is about Joseph Gyabim. He is twenty years old and his birthday is on 23^rd March 1992. This was a Tuesday, so his Fanti name is Kobina. Joseph has black skin, black short hair and brown hair. He lives in Moree, a village on the coast of Ghana. The next bigger city is Cape Coast. He lives together with his grandmother and his sister Grace, who is twenty-five years old. Grace is not the only sibling of Joseph because he also has a brother called Michael, who lives in Accra. He is thirty years old, so Joseph is the youngest child in his family. His parents also live in Accra where they work. His mother, Lydia, is fifty years old and his father is seventy years. His name is Paul.

Joseph began his education at the age of about five. For three years now he has been attending Moree Senior High Technical School. His favourite subjects in school are Mathematics and also Science.

After finishing school, Joseph wants to become an accountant or a bank manager. For him, education is very important because it is a big chance for him to earn good money in the future and to support his family. For this he will leave to go to Accra, too. Next to this aim, he also wants to have a family later on. But he thinks that it is better to get a job first so that he earns money to be able to feed his family. This is a wise decision.

In his free time Joseph likes to play football and he likes reading. He also enjoys watching television and listening to music. Therefore he likes typical Ghanaian songs as well as foreign songs and he prefers to watch Ghanaian movies.

What is also very important for him is visiting friends. In his class, Vincent and Maxwell are good friends of his.

Joseph’s favourite colour is yellow; his favourite food is Fried Rice with Fried Chicken. He also has a favourite animal which is the cat.

On the weekend, there are always many things for him to do. On Saturdays he helps doing the household, e.g. he washes clothes. On Sundays he always goes to church services because he is Catholic. He also has to do some studying for school on the weekend, he has to do his assignments or he reads in textbooks. But he visits his friends, too, so he still has some free time on the weekend.

He puts high value on his friends and on other people because he thinks that it is important to have people that you like around you. He has a kind of life-motto which goes in this direction. It means that you should always treat the people like you also want to be treated. That means you should for example help the others if you also want to get help from them. It is a very well-chosen motto because it helps to make the interaction between people more friendly and open-hearted.

Joseph’s role model is the Pope. He likes him much because of his life-style and the activities he does. He is a very interesting person for him and he thinks about him as a good and intelligent man.

Joseph likes to get to know new places, so he likes going to e.g. Cape Coast Castle or Accra. He is also interested in all the people living there because they are not the same like in Moree or other towns. All this is also a reason why another aim of his is to travel in different countries for some time to get to know more places and people all over the world.

He likes his home country, Ghana, very much. The main reason for his patriotism is that it is a very peaceful African country which is one of the most important aspects in life. He does not know very much about Germany but he thinks it is a very interesting country.

The project we all do together at school is very important and interesting for him, too. It is the first time that he is in contact with white people, so that is something very special. The project helps him to get more information about other people, cultures and countries. He thinks that we are talking about important subjects and it is a chance for him to talk about it with different people because the topic climate change is an international one which concerns us all.

All in all, Joseph is a very friendly person who has clear aims and ambitions in his life.
