Biography of Philomena

This is the biography of Philomena Bentum. The Fanti name of this helpful, friendly girl is “Nana Esi”, because she was born on a Sunday. Her exact date of birth is 29^th August 1993. So she is now 18 years old. Philomena lives in a pink and yellow house in Moree, which is part of the Central Region of Ghana and near the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

In this house she lives together with her family. Her mother Esi Krakra is 53 years old, and her father Kubina Bentum is 51 years old. Furthermore there are three sisters, who are called Gifty, Milicent and Fustina, and her brother Richard.

She goes to Moree Senior High Technical School and there her best subject is Economics, because in this subject she learns about scarce resources, labour production and demand and supply. These are topics which she likes very much. The teacher she likes the best is Sir John, the Government teacher.

After school or on the weekend Philomena often attends the Pentecost Church in Moree. She tries to go to church every day.

In her free time she loves to play her favorite game which is called Ludo and can be compared with the German game Mensch ärgere dich nicht.

Not just in school, because they are in one grade, but also in the evening Philomena meets her best friend Emelia Mensah quite often.

Philomena can also cook very well. And she likes to cook her favorite food fufu with light soup the most.

One of her many hobbies is reading books. But instead of reading books for fun she reads singing books, because singing is her passion. Anytime she feels as if she is singing to show her emotions. In addition to this gospel is her favorite kind of music.

When I asked her what she wants to do in her future she said to me: “I want to further up my education so that I can go to university after school. And after university I will try to become a policewoman and then … I will get married to the one I love.”
